  • Zinc Pyrithione . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. 1% w / v.
  • Shampoo base q.s (Cashmere fragnace) with Gafquat HS 100 as conditioner.
Availability 100 ml tamper-proof plastic bottle.
Therapeutic Group Antifungal.
Mechanism of Action Ketoconazole:

a) Exerts antifungal action by inhibitng the synthesis of ergosterol, the main constituent of cell membrance of the fungus.

b) Reduce inflammation associated with dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis.

Zinc Pyrithione:

a) Reinforces antifungal action of Ketaconazole. b) Helps in reducing scaling and itching.

Usage and Application

Patients should be advised to:

a) Wet hair and scalp and apply sufficient KTC shampoo to produce enough lather.

b) Massage KTC shampoo well into the scalp and rinse with warm water.

c) Repeat procedures a and b if the dandruff is severe.

Note: Patient should be advised to use KTC shampoo twice in a week for 4 weeks followed by once a week as maintaince therapy.

Daily Treatment Cost Rs. 6.15 /- to Rs. 12.30.
Adverse Effects

Topical treatmentn with KTC shampoo iswell tolerated.

Increase in normal hair loss, irritation and itching (<1%), abnormal hair texture, mild dryness of skin, oiliness / dryness of hair and scalp have also been noted. However, these adverse effects are limited due to presence of conditioner in KTC shampoo.
