Composition

Each film-coated Yash-Zi 250 tablets contains azithromycin dihydrate equivalent to azithromycin 250 mg.

Each film-coated Yash-Zi 500 tablets contains azithromycin dihydrate equivalent to azithromycin 500 mg.

Availability

Yash-Zi 250 tablets. A strip of 6 tablets. Such 10 strips in a box.

Yash-Zi 500 tablets. A strip of 3 tablets. Such 10 strips in a box.

Note: Approximately 105 mg of azithromycin dihydrate delivers 100 mg of azithromycin activity.

 

Therapeutic Group Azalide, a sub-class ofMacrolides.
Mode of Action Acts by binding to 50s ribosomal subunit of susceptible microorganism and interferes with microbial protein synthesis.
Clinical Benefits

Eliminate the underlying cause (bacterial infection) and relives the symtoms of infection and having benefits of:

  • Once daily dose.
  • Compatibility with co-prescribed drugs.
  • Short course chemotherapy for common infections.
  • Safety in hepatic and renally compromised patients as well as elderly patients.
Dosage

a) One tablet of 500 mg once daily for 3 days or

b) One tablet of 500 mg once on day 1 followed by one tablet of 250 mg once daily from day 2 through day 5.

Special dosage schedule for special situations:

  • Genital ulcers/Gonococoal urethritis 1000 mg stat.
  • Gonococoal urethritis/ Cervicitis 2000 mg stat.

Adverse Effects

The most common side effect reported with Yash Zi are vomiting, diarrhea, nausea and abdominal pain.

side effects are seldom severe enough to discontinue the treatment.
